Fifth Sunday After Epiphany: 8 February 2026

Dearly Beloved Franciscans,
Our Sunday Gospel presents us with 2 images as guides for how to be in the world as Christians: LIGHT & SALT. Some of my favourite light is the reflected sunlight on the surface of the moon at night which we often experience as softening moonlight, and also the sparkling bioluminescence of a certain kind of plankton on the surface of the sea.
These are enchanting and can’t be synthetically manufactured. When people look at us as a community, hopefully they encounter the inviting, welcoming and warm Christ-light in us.
