Patronal Festival: St Francis of Assisi, 5 October 2025

Dearly Beloved Franciscans,
What is it that you, personally, find so attractive about St Francis of Assisi? There’re a number of aspects of our beloved patron saint which I find intensely compelling and vigorously inspiring. His obvious union with Christ was so muscular, yet soft & inviting so that even the wildest of creatures felt at ease and were drawn to him. His openness to the animate imprint of God everywhere is such an invitation to spirit-sight; and his radiant joy bursting forth in luminous song drawing heaven to earth makes the Realness of our faith-love-story so tangible. Francis also authentically lived in solidarity with the poor, whilst simultaneously challenging the conscience of the wealthy.
