Eighth Sunday after Pentecost – 14 July 2024
Dearly Beloved Franciscans,
It’s so sad when people get caught up in their own machinations like King Herod did, as per our Gospel for Sunday. He sacrificed his personal integrity for the sake of political expediency. This has an overt consequence: a man is executed, a mother twists & manipulates her daughter, and a King “sells” his soul. Choice FOR truth and integrity will always birth new life and affirm the sanctity of soul life. Choices to abandon truth and integrity always tend to lead to death or/and a loss of something of the ability to hear and live into one’s soul. In this story the seeming “victim” actually is the one who shines with faith and faithfulness. John the Baptizer’s soul remains intact and alive. God grant us steadiness in our lives to keep true to our soul-integrity in God.
We look forward to being together for our communal soul food at our Sunday Eucharist @ 9.00am both in person and online.
