First Sunday in Lent: 22 February 2026

Dearly Beloved Franciscans,

We have now entered into the courageous season of Lent. The focus of our Lenten sermon series this year is:
Light in the Wilderness. Our world feels so bewildering at present, a form of wilderness that can feel like a scouring and an untethering context which deeply needs divine illumination and enlightenment to bring us home to God. And as our Bishop-elect prepares to be consecrated on Sunday afternoon, we pray that God’s prophetic courage will be a mantle enfolding him and divine inspiration be his guide for the sake of God’s church.
