Church Inclusive: Third Sunday of Advent, 17 December 2023
Dearly Beloved Franciscans,
As we enter into Advent 3, we are invited to be aware of “the voice in the wilderness” in the form of John the Baptizer. It is interesting how often God’s messenger feels alienated and marginalised, a lone voice speaking against the popular tide of the day. The message conveyed is frequently not a comfortable one of “sugar & spice & all things things nice”. It is a message that challenges complacency and bears proactive witnessing to suffering. This too is part of the nature of Love.
