Transfiguration Sunday: 15 February 2026
Dearly Beloved Franciscans, speaking into the Gauteng water crisis, the Gauteng Premier (Panyaza Lesufi) indicated that he and his family were suffering too. Then he added the unfortunate byline which glaringly showed up his out of touchedness with the ordinary person’s reality:
“I had to go to a certain hotel to bath so that I could go to my commitments”!
This week, we’ve also been holding the complexity and pain of the Roedene and King David Schools: their learners, staff, boards, parents. May God’s truth and redemption overflow.
And…..this week, we begin our Lenten journey starting with our joyful pancake feast and fellowship on Shrove Tuesday @ 6.30pm, followed by the penitence & Imposition of Ashes of Ash Wednesday (10am & 6.30am), and then we’re immersed in the 40 days of Lent. Perhaps it can be a time for us to repent of our false veneers and misleading words, and to the shedding of all falseness for the sake of God’s liberating truth.
