Church Unusual, June 7 2020 and a letter for Pentecost- Archbishop Thabo Makgoba

My dear Franciscans

Rev Nigel Andrews, who with his wife Jill, are members of St Francis, although we rarely see them as Nigel is assisting at other parishes most of the time, is a poet. He sent me this Pentecost poem and I would like to quote from it to remind us again of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Holy Spirit of God
You are the power at work
within me
and in all the world
mysteriously, wonderfully,
without my being aware
working, steadily, to accomplish
gradually
God’s gentle, transforming work

so that, little by little
I am being changed –
even though I don’t know it
and, sometimes, it’s hard to
believe.
….
And help me to recognize
and marvel at your work
in others, and in the world.

Attached are the usual documents:

  1. The Pentecost Liturgy for our 8:30 Church Unusual services
  2. The Pew Leaflet for this Sunday – Trinity Sunday
  3. The material for Children’s Church

Messages from Archbishop Thabo and Bishop Steve:

  1. For the Archbishop’s message go to:
    https://archbishop.anglicanchurchsa.org/2020/06/a-letter-for-pentecost-archbishop-thabo.html
  2. Bishop Steve has sent out two Pastoral Letters.
    a. A short message titled: Pastoral Letter.
    b. A much longer document laying out under what conditions churches in the Diocese of Johannesburg will be allowed to open titled: Pastoral Response – COVID-19. I recommend that you read this carefully as it has very real implications for what our church services will look like when we eventually open.

Wow! So many attachments. I hope you don’t get lost navigating through them all. Happy sailing.
See you on Sunday.
With my love and blessings
Paul
