Report on our Eco-Brick Recycling Initiative

This involves creating eco-bricks from 2litre plastic bottles by filling them with plastic and stamping down the contents so that the bottle is firm and weighs at least 1.5 kgs.

Parishioners are bringing many empty 2litre plastic bottles to the church, some well filled with plastic and quite a few poorly filled. Some volunteers have been taking the poorly filled bottles home and filling them until they are very firm, and weigh close to 2kgs, which is necessary before they can be used.

To date we have supplied close to 200 full eco-bricks to be used for a project in Diepsloot.

Please keep this up!

You will be interested to hear that the eco-brick concept, which started in South America, is spreading around the world.
