The Dedicated Giving campaign at the end of 2014 yielded positive results, with new contributions being pledged by a number of parishioners who attend the second Sunday morning service. But, says Theo Coggin, who conceptualised and promoted the campaign with DG Recorder Susan Alexander, the commitments made will need to be fully met if the Parish is to reach its budget for the 2015/16 financial year. He explained that, in the face of the stringent economic times faced by South Africans as a whole, the challenge for a Parish to meet its financial commitments is onerous. “We are thrilled at the new commitments that have been made, and at the re-commitments made by our loyal parishioners who have given faithfully over many, many years. St Francis is a Parish in transition, which also means that we see many new faces and new members of the Parish, and we would love them to also commit to regular giving through Dedicated Giving,” he said. Dedicated Giving forms the backbone of the financial wellbeing of the church. Without it the Parish simply cannot function at its present level, and this is why it is important for parishioners to pledge an amount they can afford, week by week, month by month, or as happens in one or two cases, annually. Theo added that St Francis is a very active Parish, with many outreaches to people in need, including parishioners who are the primary focus of our ministry. Such outreach cannot occur without Dedicated Giving. Pledges made through DG remain strictly confidential, with the only person in the Parish knowing the amount and source of each commitment being the DG Recorder, Susan Alexander. No one else has this information. • If you wish to become a DG contributor, or increase your present contribution, you may complete one of the forms on the information tables at the back of the church. Alternatively, access the confidential form here, or phone Susan Alexander on 083-549-4345, or email her at dgrecorder@stfrancisparkview.co.za, or speak to one of the Church Wardens.
