Mono-printing workshop

On Saturday 14th February 2015 from 2 – 4 pm, Margi Strever and the Arts and Crafts group will be having a mono-printing workshop.

You are all very welcome to come along to learn something new, and also to enjoy a cup of tea and fellowship.  Please book with Margi (072 437 9250).  A donation of R20 will help to cover the costs of materials.

Mono-printing?  For those of you (like me) who do not know what mono-printing is, the clearest explanation I could find is:

Monoprinting is a lovely combination of printing and painting.  Printmaking is usually defined as images made in multiples, and monoprints are the exception as each “print” is “one-of-a-kind.”  These prints are ridiculously easy to make — you just need a little bit of table or floor space to store the drying prints.

This explanation is from Rachelle Doorley, an artist, on her website http://tinkerlab.com/cookie-sheet-monoprints/ .  On this website are photos of her young daughter making mono-prints.  It certainly looks like lots of fun for children.

For a level up from this young child’s mono-prints, have a look at a fancier version with professional equipment by the artist Orna Feinstein ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajx3d7PTm68 )

For something between those 2 extremes, also have a look at these:

If you cannot attend this workshop, don’t despair.  There will be many other art workshops during the year.  Ask Margi for details of future events, or check back here regularly.
