Dearly Beloved Franciscans,
Christ is risen!
“The tomb of Christ is famous because of what it does NOT contain!” (Unknown). The angels removed the stone from the cave….. not a requirement to enable Jesus to rise from the dead and to be liberated from his tomb, but needed so that we may look in and begin to try to wrap our minds around His resurrection. And as we look in, the absence of Jesus’s body is not about emptiness. Rather, it is a sign that the risen Jesus has “shed” the container of the cave and his human body and is now permeating the entire world, the entire universe!
