Parish Secretary Post Available

Vacancy in the church office

A vacancy has occurred in the office of St Francis Parish, Parkview and applications are sought to fill it.

The position is essentially vocational in nature, and is key in ensuring the successful running of the Parish. It demands a person with excellent personal networking skills, who is able to motivate volunteers, while fulfilling the every-day administrative tasks associated with a lively and growing Parish such as St Francis.

A sound knowledge of the Church and a commitment to attend the 9.30 am worship service and the teas prior to the service and following it every Sunday is required.

The ability to work under pressure at certain times of the year and for special functions, is a prerequisite, as is a temperament that is able to deal with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.

Good typing skills and a proficiency in computer literacy are important. This includes aspects such as database management and common layout programmes such as Publisher. A working knowledge of accounting would be an advantage.

The position is a part-time one but, by its very nature, entails a dedication to work extended hours when circumstances demand.

A good grasp of administrative procedures is also important.

The salary structure is negotiable but is benchmarked against similar positions in other parishes. The position is available immediately, but a mutually acceptable starting date can be negotiated.

Applications, addressed to The Rector, St Francis Anglican Church, PO Box 72162, Parkview, 2122 or emailed to timgray@global.co.za, will be treated in strictest confidence. Applications must be accompanied by the names, addresses and telephone numbers of at least 3 contactable referees. Any certificates of competence submitted with the application should be suitably certified.

Closing date: 25 August 2014.
