Church Inclusive: Ninth Sunday After Pentecost, 30 July 2023

Dearly Beloved Franciscans

In the third century CE, when clergy were being put to death by the Roman Emperor Valerian and all the Church’s sacred vessels and precious objects being confiscated too, St Lawrence (a Deacon and Archdeacon in the church) quickly sold these earthly objects and gave the money to the poor.  When the Emperor demanded that Lawrence appear at the palace and bring the Church’s treasure to him, St Lawrence brought in the people who were poor, crippled, blind, sick and presented them to the Emperor as the most valuable treasures of the Church. Needless to say, St Lawrence was martyred for this temerity.  I wonder who/what we, as Christians, see as our treasures?Come and join in our Family Service on Sunday at 8.30am, whether in-person or online via the following link:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt35PbtR_ZhmeLxXjQ3EIBg
