Dearly Beloved Franciscans

This week has highlighted for me the courage of ordinary people. Our Bishop Steve, on Palm Sunday, taking the Johannesburg mayor and municipality to task for the terrible filth around the Cathedral precinct, our Archbishop Thabo as part of his Easter sermon calling our State President to account, and in today’s Gospel reading Thomas courageously speaks the truth of his internal struggles about coming to terms with a resurrected Jesus.  Somehow courage and truth seem to go hand-in-hand in some or other way. Perhaps you in your own life can testify to this and need to acknowledge that this is part of what it means to live the Easter story with strength and grace.
