We are delighted to welcome the Mothers’ Union from Region 6 and 10 to our 9:30 service this morning and for the General Regional Meeting afterwards.

PASSION TO PENTECOST- 50 DAYS OF MORAL ACTION

Bishop Steve has sent out a call for a progamme called Passion to Pentecost – 50 Days of Moral Action. In response, at St Francis, we will do the following every Friday:

  1. A 7 am Eucharist special Eucharist for our county.
  2. A Prayer Vigil in the church from 6 am to 6 pm and draw it to a close with Evening Prayer at 6 pm.
  3. A Public Silent Vigil from 12 noon to 1 pm at designated places in our area.
  4. Fast from 6 am to 6 pm from all food except water to the extent that we are able.
  5. We do this starting Friday April 21 until June 2.

50 days of moral action

CHORAL EVENSONG: Please join us for Choral evensong on Sunday 14 May at 17:30.

This is a wonderful, contemplative service that is an excellent way to start the new week.

SOUP KITCHEN: Winter has come and our soup kitchen has started.  We still need volunteers to sign up for soup kitchen duties on the roster.  The sign-up form is at the back of the church.  Please be sure to respond with generosity of time and donations of dried foods or cans to make the soup more nourishing.

07:30 SIDES PEOPLE: We are in need of more Sides People for the 07:30 Service. If you would like to volunteer, please email stfrancis@stfrancisparkview.co.za or call the office between 08:00 and 12:30.

BLANKETS AND MENS CLOTHING DONATIONS: With the sudden drop in temperature, our Social Worker has asked for blankets and men’s clothing and shoe donations so she can start handing them out to those in need of a blanket and some clothes. Please drop any blankets and clothes off in the office during the week or on a Sunday.

PICNIC CONCERT: Please make a note in your diaries about the PICNIC Concert on 4 June at 12.30 when the Symphonic Wind Band of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra will enthuse you again with their music. More details to follow.

NIGHT OUT WITH SEAN BROKENSHA THE MUSIC GURU will be speaking about music in 60’s and 70’s. A fundraiser in aid of Vuleka School happening on 23 June at St Martin’s-in-the-Veld from 18:00.

VULEKA SCHOOL FUNDRAISER: Vuleka School is looking for 947 cycle challenge riders to join their team. If you would like to join please contact Brandon on 011 477 6917 or marketing@vulekaschool.co.za.

FURNITURE: We are looking for a lockable cupboard at least 750mm(w)x 600mm(d) and anything from 1800mm to 2300mm in height for our kitchen for Social Concerns. If you would like to donate a cupboard or towards a cupboard please call or email the office and let Ceri know.
